Prayer to Our Lady of Hope

O Mary, my Mother, I kneel before you with heavy heart. The burden of my sins oppresses me. The knowledge of my weakness discourages me. I am beset by fears and temptations of every sort. Yet I am so attached to the things of this world that instead of longing for Heaven I am filled with dread at the thought of death. O Mother of Mercy, have pity on me in my distress. You are all-powerful with your Divine Son. He can refuse no request of your Immaculate Heart. Show yourself a true Mother to me by being my advocate before His throne.

O Refuge of Sinners and Hope of the Hopeless, to whom shall I turn if not you?

Obtain for me, then, O Mother of Hope, the grace of true sorrow for my sins, the gift of perfect resignation to God’s Holy Will, and the courage to take up my cross and follow Jesus. Beg of His Sacred Heart the special favor that I ask in this novena.

Prayer to Saint Joachim

O great and glorious Patriarch, Saint Joachim, what joy is mine when I consider that thou wast chosen among all God's holy ones to assist in the fulfillment of the mysteries of God, and to enrich our earth with the great Mother of God, Mary most holy!  

By this singular privilege, thou hast become most powerful with both the Mother and her Son, so as to be able to obtain for us the graces that are needful to us; with great confidence I have recourse to thy mighty protection and I commend to thee all my needs and those of my family, both spiritual and temporal; and especially do I entrust to thy keeping the particular favor that I desire and look for from thy fatherly intercession.  

And since thou wast a perfect pattern of the interior life, obtain for me the grace of interior recollection and a spirit of detachment from the transitory goods of this life, together with a lively and enduring love for Jesus and Mary.  Obtain for me in like manner a sincere devotion and obedience to Holy Church and the sovereign pontiff who rules over her: to the end that I may live and die in faith and hope and perfect charity, ever invoking the holy names of Jesus and Mary, and may I thus be saved.  Amen.

Prayer to St. George

St. George was a Roman military officer of the 3rd century, who is well-known around the world for a particular legend connected to his life. He is said to have mounted his horse and killed a dragon with his lance, protecting villagers (and in one story a beautiful maiden).

Many believe the story was meant to represent his ability to conquer sin and temptation, and that the dragon was more of a “demonic force,” than an actual beast. With this in mind, St. George has been known as a powerful intercessor against temptations and can aid a person who is struggling against the powers of evil.

Below is a brief prayer that invokes St. George’s intercession, asking him for help in spiritual warfare.

You have inspired countless pilgrims to pray with confidence to your divine Son, remembering His promise, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find”. Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims on the road to Heaven. Fill me with love and concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ, especially those who live with me. Comfort me when I am sick, lonely or depressed. Teach me how to take part ever more reverently in the Holy Mass. Give me a greater love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Novena for the Legal Protection of Human Life - August 17

   The National Novena for the Legal Protection of Human Life is sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities. Each Friday, between August 3rd and September 28th, the standing weekly Call to Prayer will be adapted as a nine-week Novena for the Legal Protection of Human Life. In addition to the current invitation to fast on Fridays, participants are encouraged to pray one Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be for the intention of this novena.

   This initiative was prompted by the announcement earlier this summer that United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy would retire. Neither the Archdiocese of New York nor the USCCB supports or opposes the confirmation of any presidential nominee. However, given this historic moment, the U.S. bishops are urging all people of good will to pray that a change in the U.S. Supreme Court may move our nation closer to the day when every human being is protected in law and welcomed in life.

Abortion is not health care.

   Abortion advocates speak as if abortion is health care, a procedure that is morally and emotionally equivalent to surgically removing one's tonsils or appendix. It is often conveyed as so morally neutral that only a few religious outliers find it objectionable. Yet in reality, the vast majority, over 85%, of OB/GYNs, coming from many faiths or no faith refuse to be associated with or perform an abortion.  In addition, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, 86% of hospitals were not involved in abortion. Finally, even Roe acknowledges that abortion is unlike other procedures performed by a health professional and that unborn children deserve some protection.³ Abortion is not health care and we do a disservice to women and health care providers to pretend it is.

Our Dear Heavenly Father, while we come to You in complete humility, we also come to You with boldness in the authoritative name of Your One and Only Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Oh God, we are burdened for our nation today. We turn from the sins that we have committed against your Word and your Name. Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God. I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for me.

Prayer to St. Agatha for healing of breast cancer

 St. Agatha, woman of valor, from your own suffering we have been moved to ask your prayers for those of us who suffer from breast cancer. We place the NAME(S) before you, and ask you to intercede on their behalf. From where you stand in the health of life eternal- all wounds healed, and all tears wiped away- pray for MENTION YOUR REQUEST, and all of us. Pray God will give us His holy benediction of health and healing. And, we remember you were a victim of torture and that you learned, first hand, of human cruelty and inhumanity. A PRAYER FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS

Compassionate Lord, we pray for those who have been devastated by
recent natural disasters. We remember those who have lost their lives
so suddenly. We hold in our hearts the families forever changed by
grief and loss. Bring them consolation and comfort. Surround them
with our prayers for strength. Bless those who have survived and heal
their memories of trauma and devastation. May they have the courage
to face the long road of rebuilding ahead.

We ask your blessing on all those who have lost their homes, their belongings,
their livelihoods, their security and their hope. Bless the work of relief
agencies and those providing emergency assistance. May their work
be guided by the grace and strength that comes from You alone.

Help us to respond with generosity in prayer, in assistance, in aid to the

Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and have broken relationships because of their attachment to the object of their addiction. Lord, in your servant, Venerable Matt Talbot you have given us a wonderful example of triumph over addiction, of devotion to duty, and of lifelong reverence of the Holy Sacrament. Almighty God,
We come to you today and give thanks for all our teachers.

Virgin, most holy, Mother of the Word Incarnate, Treasurer of graces, and Refuge of sinners, I fly to your motherly affection with lively faith, and I beg of you the grace ever to do the will of God.
Into your most holy hands, I commit the keeping of my heart, asking you for health of soul and body, in the certain hope that you, my most loving Mother, will hear my prayer. 
Into the bosom of your tender mercy, this day, every day of my life, and at the hour of my death, I commend my soul and body. 
To you, I entrust all my hopes and consolations, all my trials and miseries, my life and the end of my life, that all my actions may be ordered and disposed according to your will and that of your Divine Son. Amen.

      How to Enthrone Mary Immaculate Queen in Your Home

A statue or picture may be blessed; If convenient, ask a priest to perform the ceremony, otherwise, the head of the family can do it. First, prepare her altar with flowers and candles, giving her an honored place in your home where all will see her and often pray to her.

                                                 Recite together kneeling:
The Act of Contrition; 3 Hail Marys; 3 Glorias; and 3 times the invocation: "Mary Immaculate Queen: Triumph and Reign."

                                    Followed by the following Act of Consecration:
     O Mary Immaculate Queen, glorious Queen of the Universe, most powerful Virgin, merciful Mother of a merciful God and refuge of sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thy Royal and Immaculate Heart.
     It is through thee that Jesus Christ our King has come into the world to save it. It is also through thee that He is to reign over the world.
     In order to obtain this great benefit for ourselves and all mankind, we come to thy feet to consecrate to thee our persons, our lives, all that we are, all that we have, all that we love. Keep us, enlighten us, dispose of us, reign over us.

      O Mary Immaculate Queen, look down upon this distressed and suffering world. Thou knowest our misery and our weakness. O Thou who art our Mother, saving us in the hour of peril, have compassion on us in these days of great and heavy trial.

     We recognize thy Queenship and ardently desire thy triumph. We need a Mother and a Mother's Heart. Thou art for us the luminous dawn which dissipates our darkness and points out the way to life. Inthy clemency obtain for us the courage and the confidence of which we have such need.
     Most Holy and Adorable Trinity, Thou Who didst crown with glory in Heaven the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Savior, grant that all her children on earth may acknowledge her as their Sovereign Queen, that all hearts, homes, and nations may recognize her rights as Mother and as Queen. Amen.
